Modeling Advice For Model Casting
Model casting can be a frightening experience for the novice. What
do you do? What don't you do? What follows are some of the answers to
those very important questions.
- When you go in for a modeling audition, the first thing you must
do is be on time. If you're late, you will not be forgiven.
- Take someone with you to the model audition and always let the photographer
know that someone will always know where you are.
- Be prepared with clothing changes because the photographer won't
always have everything you need there.
- Take your own makeup with you to the shoot. It's quite possible
that you could be allergic to the makeup that they have onsite.
- Get references to the photographer that is going to shoot you. Make
sure they're credible before going to the model casting. Ask to see
tear sheets of the person's previous shoots for magazines.
- Make sure that when you go on the modeling audition, you know exactly
what to expect. Don't feel pressured to do anything that you didn't
know about beforehand. If your head tells you not to do it, listen.
- Don't sign any modeling releases before reading them first. Understand
where your images will be displayed by the people who retain the rights
to the images.
- Any kind of traveling expenses should be in writing. Never trust
a verbal contract!
- Don't forget that your body is your own. Know your safety zones
and let the photographer know if he crosses that safe zone.
- Keep your portfolio fresh by constantly updating your pictures.
- Always be confident about your talent. Clients want someone who
is self-assured, but not cocky. Learn the difference.
- Learn to be independent. Once your career starts to take off, you
will find yourself away from friends and family. Without any support,
you will have to fend for yourself and learn to be your own person.
- Get organized. You need to know when and where you have to be and
sometimes things can get crazy. To not miss important dates, learn
to keep track of your appointments so you don't forget any and jeopardize
your career.
- Stay healthy. Go to a gym and workout at least 3 days a week with
weights or some kind of cardio workout.
